ABOUT MATT KOVAL

One of the original pioneers of YouTube strategy.

Matt Koval was an early YouTube star who was later recruited by YouTube to help build its creator education efforts from the inside. Over a decade at YouTube and Google, he helped define the platform’s modern content strategy playbook, serving in senior roles including Lead Content Strategist, Manager of Creative Insights, Head Producer for the official Creators channel, and Global Creator Liaison.

During that time, Matt’s frameworks and teachings scaled to tens of millions of creators worldwide and were later adopted, often verbatim, by competing platforms like TikTok.

After leaving Google, Matt founded Creator Dynamics, a YouTube strategy firm that helps companies, media brands, and mission-driven organizations grow their channels using organic, creator-first systems – not paid traffic.

Today, he leads a small, highly specialized team of genre-specific YouTube strategists. Together, they help organizations launch new channels, fix stalled ones, and build YouTube into a durable, long-term growth engine.

Not over-indexing on homegrown creators, Matt was also a head instructor for YouTube’s exclusive Brand Partner Program, advising marketing execs from the likes of Starbucks, Mastercard, and Johnson & Johnson among others.

In his last chapter at YouTube, Matt developed the role and became the company’s very first Creator Liaison – an official, public representative of the 50M+ creator community. He held it for two years before passing the torch to creator Rene Ritchie.

  • "Matt isn't just YouTube certified. He wrote half the certification program."
